goddamn it’s been a rough year. it feels like I’ve blinked twice and march became
august october (haha I actually wrote august not even for comedic effect and it’s literally october). remember the beginning of quarantine? holy shit. okay.
currently in my coziest loungewear, just lit my favorite jo malone candle, listening to van halen (RIP) and sipping an iced oat milk pumpkin chai (sue me) — sitting at my actual desk (!!) and not on the couch (!!!) — with stella snuggled up by my feet, and I thought, it’s time I write something fun with no pressure, deadlines, interviews, fact checking, pubmed scouring… you get the picture.
keeping it light and also infusing some of my brand ambassador shit (because we all have to make money, you know? don’t be mad) I’m putting together some of my favorite things for feelin’ cozy, warm-and-fuzzy feels in this weird 2020 autumn. also, reflecting on all these little things makes me feel more grateful so this is pretty self-serving. sorry. but like, maybe you’ll really love these things too, and we’ll all win! cool!
as an aside, I’m very grateful to be healthy, employed, and with a roof over my head. that said, I’ve also somehow energetically absorbed all of the stress of the universe and it has taken a ✨ m a s s i v e ✨ toll on my energy levels. I’m completely off my fitness a-game, and have had a really hard time taking the best care of myself. hoping that focusing on these small things at home will help me recalibrate with ~*~self care~*~
*full transparency — I *do* make commission off sales with links and codes, so if you find something you love and you want to buy, using that code also supports my small business!
cozy loungewear: I wore this sweater and short set for five days straight when I got it from target. like it’s actually so good I went back for a second set, and accidentally found a third in the loveliest oatmeal color. I’m wearing the light grey sweater and shorts rn. 12/10 recommend.
comfort zone: as you may know, I get a lot of free shit. not shit, but like, a lot of really good product. and a lot of it sometimes is skincare (I know, blessed). because I have a lot of stuff to work with, it takes me actual eons to use up any particular product. that said, I paid actual money for some product in the pre-quar era, at glen ivy when I got a facial in february (I even took a cute skincare class with the brand). comfort zooooone is where it’s at, y’all. made in parma italy, and every. single. product. I have tried has knocked it out of the park. the ultimate moisturizer of all time is their hydramemory cream. I cannot underscore enough just how incred this stuff is. start there, but I also love the renight mask, remedy defense cream, and remedy toner.
five minute journal: I have used this every day since I got it in the mail, and it has genuinely added joy — and much needed structure — to my life. like I said, this year has been rough. I highly highly hiiiighly recommend this journal for some morning and evening gratitude.
my podcast!: did you know I host a podcast for the magnificent outlet/platform svn space? we talk about health, wellness, mental wellbeing, hemp, natural medicine, social issues, astrology, entrepreneurship, and how bad I am at composting. I think you’ll really really love it, for real.
slippers: so everyone is freaking out over these amazon ones because influencers like them but I’m pretty sure they’re like, crappy and made in china BUUUT that doesn’t mean they aren’t worth a try. I hear they’re super soft. I’m still wearing my uggs forever. the ugg brand and I started strong in 2002 and it’s the longest relationship I’ve ever had. hahahaha I’m FINE!!!
yeti ice pink collection: keep your PSL hot for hours (or honestly, cold for hours, if you’re among the elite group who knows that iced coffee reigns supreme, regardless of season or weather) (what am I saying, of course I like iced coffee year round, I live in mf’ing san diego) (anyway). I’m a huuuuge yeti fan, I got myself a gorgeous sage green cooler for my birthday, and my influencer dog child (hahaha you hate me) just received the beautiful new pink bowl so now — obviously — I have to get the matching tumbler so we can have mommy and me drinks in the morning… right?
jo malone candle: I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: this candle smells like jesus’s face (at least, that’s what I’d imagine). they have other fragrances that are fantastic (like rose!) but IMO, peony & blush suede is the 🐐 — it’s burning right now and I’m breathing it in and it like seriously makes me thankful to be alive.
CBD: regardless of season, we all need CBD. now that I’ve been sitting on the couch for what feels like an eternity of damnation, I have an inflammed QL pushing on my sciatic nerve, which is like… imitating sciatica. COOL! anyway, using my fav brand (charlotte’s web!!) back and neck cream for some pain relief while I get my act together/get massages/stop sitting. aaaand you can use my code DOMINIQUE for 15% off literally anything in the store. ya welcome!
mrs meyers mum cleaning supplies: when I thought the apocalypse was nigh in march, I stocked the fuuuuu*****k up on mrs meyers peony and rose scented soaps and cleaning sprays. when I went for a glorious target stroll (don’t you just love target in the fall?) to acquire a more seasonally appropriate scent (which I presumed would be pumpkin or some form of spice), I saw (and smelled) the mum fragrance, and went home with a lovely hand and dish soap. hiiiighly recommend, particularly if you’re looking to mix it up from pumpkin-scented everything. I know it’s cheesy but a beautiful fragrance when you’re doing something as mundane and annoying as washing dishes really brightens your mood.
sakara tea: so like as always, you can get 15% off anything in the clean boutique OR the meal programs (highly recommend, obv) with XODOMINIQUE. I know I talked about sakara tea in the last post I did (back in april though, so like cut me some slack), but it remains true now — I love sakara teas (the detox tea is fab, too… and not like gross detox. it’s a rose rooibos). and if you’re game to try the meal program, even for just a week, HMU on insta and I’ll answer any Qs you might have!
slip x NM sleep set: so don’t be mad at me for the price on this set, but it really is sooooo nice — if it’s your birthday around this time (hello, libra and scorpio queens) just like, get it for yourself. you’re worth it. my friend hailey introduced me to the scrunchies last christmas (tysm hailes) and I highly recommend the sleep mask (this color and this color are so f’king cute) and the travel set is great too. I’m pretty sure there’s literally zero science on silk being anti-aging (but like who knows, remember — I said I wasn’t going to crawl pubmed today) but that’s what the lady at neiman marcus told me and honestly I really want to believe her. so I did. confirmation bias! also it’s good for your hair. god bless.
brava: I’m going to write a whole ass post on this, so buckle tf up. if you haven’t seen on my insta — or god forbid, my tiktok — you’re going to be enticed by the tesla of ovens. it works like an oven, an air fryer, a slow cooker, a toaster oven, a super oven (0-500º in under a second), and can cook diff ingredients on the same pan AT DIFFERENT TEMPS so you can literally do a one-pan meal. ideal for all your fall cooking endeavors. standby for further developments.
stella: tbh I’d just really recommend getting a dog this season. it’s great all the cool kids are doing it. like are you kidding me look at this
anyway, I’ve been staring at this screen for a few hours now (why does this stuff take so long?!?), the chai is gone (boooo), I’m ready to turn off van halen and do my skincare routine… it’s time. we must part. ily.
hope you had fun looking at some cool stuff you might want to buy, or at least hanging out with virtual me for a few minutes. hope it made you feel niiiice and cozy. we need some more of that.
