The first year my boyfriend and I started dating, our first ‘big’ vacation was a trip to Park City, Utah. I surprised him that Christmas with a little package, including plane tickets, lift tickets, some snowboarding accessories and a vintage map of Utah. It’s since become a very special place to us and is very near and dear to my heart, so I’m really excited for our trip this year! Living in coastal San Diego, I’ve been in desperate need of some snow.
As much as I enjoy being active and outdoorsy, I’m far from being even close to capable when it comes to snowboarding… if I’m being completely honest, I’m lucky if I can just walk on a flat sidewalk without tripping. The last time I went snowboarding, I got stuck waist-deep in the snow, in the middle of a bunch of trees. For ten minutes. Regardless, I definitely give it a try every time I’m in a snowy area, so I’ll be packing some snowboard gear, but I’ll mostly be packing for exploring the town.
If you haven’t been, Park City is an adorable little mountain town… the quintessential winter getaway. It gracefully treads the line of glamorous and quaint – touting resorts like the St. Regis and lavish shops full of expensive furs, but it’s nestled in a quiet, sleepy town. I’m packing essentials to keep me cozy and warm in frigid temps (anything under 72 is rough for me, really), as well a few more stylish options to wear into town for dining and shopping. I couldn’t be more excited for this little adventure around the corner! Stay tuned, and I’ll keep you in the loop on my favorite Park City finds, from a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint (yay binge eating!) to the best spa in town (yay couples massages!).
Here are a few staple items I’ll be bringing with me…
UTAH PACKING CHECKLIST
VINCE SWEATER: Dreamy, soft, and a perfect layering piece. Gift from the bf, I definitely didn’t pay for it :-P
STRIPED TEE: I wear this too many times a week, and it’s a steal price!
For the snow: SOREL These are the adult sized boots, but if you have small feet like me, you can get THESE which are the kids version, and half the price (!!!).
For the cabin: UGG
For the town: STEVE MADDEN Stuart Weitzman lookalikes for a FRACTION of the price. I am nowhere near a salary that can support a $650 boot lifestyle, so these were perfect. I seriously lost it when I found these online. They’re on sale right now!
Bringing my favorite Madewell jeans. Even if they’re not ideal for the snow.
Polarized Sunnies, to keep the snowy glare out of my eyes.
For the slopes, a snowy white jacket and punchy, colorful pants.
You definitely can’t go to the snow without a beanie.
Keeping warm underneath my snow clothes with a Nike Hyperwarm top and bottom.
I still have some items to pick up, like a good pair of gloves, and maybe a scarf! And as for a few beauty essentials, I can’t forget a good SPF and lip balm.
Thanks for reading!
xx,
Dominique
